Our mission

To Improve the overall well-being of individuals and their families through animal and hands-on activities.

The Barns at Blue Mountain provides equine assisted services for the purpose of contributing positively to the personal growth, cognitive, physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being of individuals seeking an alternative therapy in a non-clinical setting. Horseback riding rhythmically moves the rider’s body in a manner similar to a human gait, riders with physical disabilities often show improvement in flexibility, balance, and muscle strength. Horses provide immediate and safe feedback for how we may be communicating non-verbally through our emotions in relationships. From caring for the horses, teens learn how to handle complex dynamics by taking control of their emotions, communicating effectively with others, and setting realistic expectations.

Our Adaptive Horsemanship Program is offered to ages 6 and up with a variety of physical, emotional, and mental disabilities as well as cognitive delays. This program works with each client on an individual basis to provide horsemanship and equine assisted learning while reaping the physical and emotional benefits of the equine partner. Personal growth, attention deficit, and self awareness can all be addressed and improved through this program.

Equine Assisted Learning

Our certified equine specialists in mental health and learning work with a licensed mental health professional to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for counseling services.

Equine specialists are certified through EAGALA and/or PATH INTL

Our equine assisted learning programs offer groups and classrooms the opportunity to learn and have hands-on experience with horses and other animals available at The Barns. We can design lesson plans and accommodate field trips or business teams so that each client can learn new skills and relate them to personal growth, team building, leadership, relationships, and communication.

Greenhouse and garden programs

We have added a greenhouse and garden space to our programs to provide physical and emotional health, teach life skills, and provide another space to heal and connect at The Barns.

Our plan is to teach food production, preservation , and business opportunities to our at-risk youth, kids in transition, and recovery clients in the future to provide another layer of health and knowledge. As well as contribute healthy food options to those with food insecurities.
